Summary
Situated on several trade routes, Brno has always been a multicultural city. Since ancient times Czech, Jewish, German and Italian communities have lived here side by side. All of them influenced the city’s history, leaving traces of their culture in its face. Nevertheless almost all traces of the medieval Jewish settlement of the city disappeared – but for a few minor exceptions – after the Jews were banished from here in the 15th century.
