GENERAL
The Memorial to Jewish Victims was erected after WW II by communist authorities as a memorial to victims of fascism, and rebuilt in 2004 as a memorial to Holocaust victims by the City of Osijek to mark the place of the transit camp established in 1942 by Nazi authorities in order to gather all the Jews from Osijek Jewish Community, around 1,500 people, who were then deported to Jasenovac and Auschwitz. Only around 300 of them survived the death camps of the Second World War. The monument was demolished in 2016, and the City of Osijek repaired it immediately, severly judging the vandalism.
